The initial window to apply to be one of the first 500 owners of the EcoBoost-powered, carbon-fiber Ford GT is now closed. Over the course of 30 days, Ford received more than 6,500 fully completed applications, 32 percent of which arrived during the final six days of registrations. Some applicants hoped to gain the upper hand by bolstering their submission with videos featuring children, special effects, garage tours, and more.

According to the latest press release, Ford is now reviewing the applications and will be notifying potential buyers in the next 90 days. The all-new GT supercar will begin arriving in select garages before the end of the year.

“We’re excited by the amount of enthusiasm fans are showing for the new Ford GT,” says Dave Pericak, director, Global Ford Performance. “This initial application window is just one of many ways fans and potential owners will have to connect with our all-new supercar even before it hits the streets.”

Earlier this morning, Ford issued a press release announcing that, in its first year of global availability, the Mustang became the best-selling sports coupe in the world in 2015.

Despite limited availability in major markets like the UK and China, Ford sold around 110,000 Mustang coupes last year, more than any competitor. Additionally, the automaker delivered around 30,000 Mustang convertibles, bringing total nameplate sales to more than 141,000; making the Mustang the best-selling two-door sports car in the world by far.

“U.S. consumers have enjoyed interesting foreign sports cars for decades, so it was time for the Americans to return the favor with the worldwide launch of the new Mustang,” says Erich Merkle, Ford sales analyst. “Global markets have responded in a huge way. Ford Mustang was the only sports coupe in the world with more than 100,000 units registered last year.”

If you struggle to get through your commute each morning, you deserve to stop dreading it and start enjoying it. While this may sound a little easier said, than actually done, it’s possible in the all-new 2017 Ford Fusion. With available adaptive cruise control and stop-and-go technology, your Fusion will sense the flow of traffic and adjust your speed, so you can relax and enjoy the ride.

In addition to driver-assistance technology, the 2017 Fusion is outfitted with a newly designed front grille with available new LED headlights. Plus, you’ll have the choice from two variants: the Titanium and the Platinum. The Titanium, for instance, boasts leather-trimmed seating, heated front seats and next generation voice-activated technology, aka SYNC 3. As for the Platinum, this version is designed for those looking for a new level of style and comfort. With 19-inch polished wheels and premium interior, you’ll love the look and feel of the all-new Fusion.

The difference between a hybrid and a plug-in can be a game changer. Learn what each can offer! #FordDriveGreen https://t.co/qTqLv4QKic

According to Ford’s recent tweet, “The difference between a hybrid and a plug-in can be a game changer.”

People love to throw around the term “game-changer,” but what does it really mean? Is Ford just trying to get you to buy a more expensive product?

Full disclosure, we do like when you buy more expensive stuff, but we’ll only push it when it really is better than the cheap option. In this case, Ford links to an infographic with all the key differences between the C-Max Hybrid and the C-Max Energi.

Think of a traditional hybrid as a hybrid cross between an electric car and a gas-powered car. Think of a plug-in hybrid like the C-Max Energi as a hybrid cross between an electric car and a traditional hybrid. Hybrid squared.

The C-Max Energi can be plugged in to a 240-volt charging station or a standard 120-volt outlet. It can then operate on battery power alone, acting like an all-electric model. You can make short trips without having to burn a single drop of gas.

When you need to make a longer trip, or you’re traveling somewhere that doesn’t have a charging station, the plug-in’s gasoline engine gives you freedom and flexibility. You can set the C-Max Energi to drive in hybrid mode, or tell it to conserve electricity for later, and rely more heavily on the combustion engine.

Plug-in hybrids really are a game changer, giving you the environmental benefit of an electric car with the convenience and driving range of a hybrid. As the most versatile option, Ford expects customers to favor plug-ins in the coming years.

For many young people, buying a reliable car is pretty difficult. Lack of credit, and the intimidating prices on most new cars are somewhat off-putting. That’s where Ford comes in. Not only do they have a first-time buyer program to ensure that you get the car you want at a price you can afford, they also have the Focus family of vehicles.

The Focus, which was redesigned just last year, has won hearts and minds all across the country for its competitive driving dynamics, superlative gas mileage, reliability, and performance. It also comes in sedan, hatch, electric, and ST models (for those of you who want a lil’ more oomph). There’s never been a better compact for the job that’s been so easy to acquire.

At the 2016 Chicago Auto Show this month, Ford Motor Company announced plans to introduce four new SUVs to the global market by 2020.

So, what are they doing? Didn’t you just see four or five different models of new Ford SUVs in our Clovis, NM inventory?

Answer: yes, you did.

However, Business Insider explains that the SUV is the hottest selling segment in the automotive industry. Millennials starting families have a strong preference for SUVs and crossovers.

Ford’s vice president of Marketing, Sales, and Service goes on to explain, “As members of the 80-million-strong millennial age group enter their prime child-rearing years, a leading indicator of more SUV sales, nearly 80 million aging baby boomers continue to prefer their SUVs. It’s a demographic double whammy and it all points to one thing – more SUVs for the foreseeable future.”

Most university campuses these days have banned student groups from performing dangerous hazing rituals to initiate new members.

Unfortunately, it looks like Ford didn’t get that memo… at least when it comes to their car seat material.

The Mace Snagging Test sounds a little crazy. Fabrics that Ford wants to use for seat covers in new vehicles are wrapped around a cylindrical spinner, and are beaten with a spiked ball-and-chain flail (colloquially called a mace) as they spin.

Cruel and unusual, no?

By dragging these miniaturized medieval weapons across the fabric’s surface, Ford can check to make sure the fabric isn’t snagging or tearing. Ford seat covers should be tough enough to withstand keys, pens, and other pointy objects to minimize wear-and-tear and enhance resale value.

Hear just a few bars of the introductory music to this popular show from the mid-90s and you’ll likely recognize it in an instant. It’s a simple whistle, not a big orchestra sound, and a catchy tune.

Any guesses?

If you thought of The X-Files, you’re right. Fans of the popular show were overjoyed last night when they once again followed the adventures of Agents Dana Scully (Gillian Anderson) and Fox Mulder (David Duchovny).

Some things have changed: an updated wardrobe and of course, the age of the actors-both of whom still look great by the way-but some things remained the same. The intrigue, the mystery … and the Ford vehicles.

Well, the vehicles themselves have changed. The Ford Taurus that the agents used to share was replaced with Scully’s new Ford Explorer Platinum. We couldn’t help but wonder if this was all due to functionality-the many driver-assisted features are pretty handy-or the stylish look. Either way, here at Hamilton Big Country Ford Inc., we were happy to see it featured.
