Ford is partnering with other automotive brands to bring a charging network to Europe to make it easier for consumers to own electric vehicles.

The BMW Group, Daimler AG, Ford Motor Company and Volkswagen Group with Audi and Porsche have signed an agreement to construct the highest-powered charging system in Europe. Their goal is to create a large number of stations to make long-range driving for battery electric vehicles a reality. A press release from Ford called it a significant step toward facilitating mass-market battery electric vehicle adoption.

“A reliable, ultra-fast charging infrastructure is important for mass consumer adoption and has the potential to transform the possibilities for electric driving,” says Mark Fields, president and CEO, Ford Motor Company.

The 2017 Ford Fusion is newly redesigned and safer than ever before, joining the Ford F-150 as an IIHS Top Safety Pick.

To earn a Top Safety Pick under the IIHS’s new, more stringent standards, the Fusion had to earn the highest score in all five of the IIHS’s crashworthiness tests. Up until the 2016 model, the Fusion was already earning the highest marks in four out of five categories, but lagged behind slightly in the small-overlap front test, earning the second-highest mark.

This year, the 2017 Fusion received more than just a facelift, but also received bolstered protection against small-overlap collisions, and an upgraded Pre-Collision System, capable of preventing a crash at up to 25mph.

That’s not the case anymore, as yesterday, Ford announced the impending arrival of a new Fusion model with serious EcoBoost power, that’s taking aim at certain German models with much higher price tags.

With a 2.7-liter twin-turbocharged EcoBoost engine, the all-new Fusion V6 Sport produces 325 horsepower and 380 pound-feet of torque. That’s more than the BMW 535i at with a starting MSRP of just $33,475. Furthermore, the Fusion V6 Sport delivers all-wheel drive as standard equipment.

“It’s not just Fusion buyers who want something hotter,” says Wade Jackson, Ford Fusion marketing manager. “Owners of other midsize sedans, along with our own dealers, ask repeatedly. So buyers get a 2.7-liter EcoBoost that makes 325 horsepower and a more impressive 380 pound-feet of torque. These consumers also crave a car that’s much more distinctive inside and out. The 325-horsepower Fusion V6 Sport goes on sale at the end of summer 2016.
